Nora Smith

Architect

Nora Smith was born in London, and has lived in the Bahamas for thirty years.
Nora has diverse experience in practice, starting in the High-Tech office of Foster Associates in
London, and ranging to the restoration of historic buildings in England, Nassau and the Family
Islands.
She is a Licensed Architect with experience in both the private and public sectors, and has
designed and administered commercial, industrial, educational and residential buildings. Nora
believes that consistency of design from the master plan to the smallest detail is critical to
successful architecture and that sustainable modern design can be informed by the principles of
traditional building.

Nora is a member of the Institute of Bahamian Architects and associate member of the Royal
Institute of British Architects.

Achievements

  • In addition to her work as an architect, Nora is a well known local artist who has exhibited watercolours, collage and sculpture extensively in Nassau and abroad. She has also completed a number of large murals and specialises in architectural model making
